She was predeceased by: her parents, Jerome Schafer and Minnie Schafer; her husband Edwin Smith; and her brothers, Daniel Schafer, Leo Schafer, Matt Schafer, Leonard Schafer, Herman Schafer and Arnold Schafer.
She is survived by: her children, Melinda Smith of Youngstown, OH, Daniel Smith (Kathy) of Golden Valley, MN, Stephanie Smith of Bismarck, ND and Stacey Smith (Paul) of San Francisco, CA; her grandsons, Joshua Smith (Laura), Andrew Smith (Amanda) and Spencer Smith; her great grandchild Peregrine Smith; and her siblings, Lawrence Schafer (Sharon), Delores Cain, Bernard Schafer (Linda), Shirley Reed (Ken), DuWayne Schafer (Gladeen) and Gordon Schafer. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many other close friends.
