He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph and Anna; and his siblings, Margaret Seer, Michael Volk, John Volk, Barbara Lockbeam, Sebastian Volk and Delores White.

He is survived by: his spouse Beverly (Tekippe); and his sister Anne Bradford (Volk). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Richard requested memorials may be given to the AMVETS and Moose Lodge 302 (Mooseheart), both in Bismarck.
