He was predeceased by : his parents, Rudolph Kovarik and Mildred Kovarik (Balek); his daughter Denise Kovarik; his brother-in-law Donald Pecka; and his nephew David Kadlec.
He is survived by : his wife Lois Kovarik of Lankin; his daughters, Kristi Kovarik (Daryn Wambem) of Grand Forks, Cheryl Storhoff (Wayne Barreth) of Valley City, Kathy Houser (Kelly) of Park River, Nancy Kovarik of Minot, Julie Anderson (Steve) of Manvel and Pam Kovarik of Lankin; his grandchildren, Taylor, Alec Storhoff, Samantha, Brandon, Madison Houser, Brayden, Roger Kovarik, Logan and Lexie Anderson; his siblings, Jim Kovarik (Marge) of Adams, Ken Kovarik (Pat) of West Fargo, Gladys Slominski (Julian) of Grand Forks and Phyllis Kadlec (Maynard) of Grand Forks; and his sister-in-law Terri Cernik of Fargo. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
