He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert W. Gemmill and Opal I. Gemmill (Jensen); his wife Leona Mae Odegard; his siblings, Herbert Jr., Floyd, Gene, Gordon, Suzanne and Rebecca Ruud (Gemmill); and his grandson Jay Dale Gemmill.
He is survived by: his children, Larry Gemmill (Nancy) of Cohasset, MN, Randy Gemmill (Susan) of Edinburg, ND, Jeff Gemmill (Debbie) of Grand Rapids, MN and Lynae Nielsen (Mike) of Mahtomedi, MN; his grandchildren, Nicole Jehoich (Gemmill), Nathan Gemmill, Alicia Gilbert (Gemmill), Eric Gemmill and Kelly Gemmill; and his sister Helen Sundvor (Harold). He is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
