He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Nicholas and Leota Nicholas (Murphy); his brothers-in-law, Eugene Alder and David Lund; and his grandson Jaymon McDonald.
He is survived by: his former wife Patty Jo Griffin; his wife Muriel Lund (Mernie) of Fargo; his children, Dawn Nicholas of Mountain Home, Idaho, Randy Laurin (Susie) of Grand Forks, ND, Denise Nicholas-Sandberg (Darrin) of Mountain Home, Idaho, Denyce McDonald (Gary) of West Fargo, ND, Amanda Jones (Aaron) of Hawley, MN and Leah Nicholas of Grandin, ND; his grandchildren, McKenzie Sanchez (Ruben), Brady Laurin, Whitney Sandberg, Jenna Laurin, Audrey Nicholas-Jones, Braedon McDonald, Nathan McDonald, Landon Nicholas, Avery Jones, Asher Jones and Jason Sell; and his siblings, John Nicholas of Mississippi, Pat Kelsven (Morrie) of Moorhead, MN and Sharon Alder of Colstrip, MT..
