He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Staffne and Annie Staffne (Hanson); his children, Margaret Bodell and Michael Staffne; and his siblings, Delores Bates, Donald Staffne, Michael R. Staffne and Beverly Collette.
He is survived by: his wife Rita Kartes; and his daughter-in-law Cathy Staffne of Grafton, ND. He is also survived by six grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and two great great grandsons.
