She was predeceased by: her parents, Beatha Grove (Nelson) and Clifford Grove; her son-in-law Steve Schultz; and her former husband Robert Suminski. She is survived by: her daughter Amanda Schultz Garcia; her son-in-law Bon Garcia; and her grandchildren, Carter Schultz, Freda and Robert Garcia.

Memorials may be directed to Carmen's family who plan to establish a scholarship fund for students pursuing a degree in special education.
