He was predeceased by: his parents, Marilyn Genevieve Starr (Schmidt) and Robert Allen Schmidt; his brothers, Thomas Schmidt and Cam Starr (CJ); and his grandparents, Marlys, Ernest Sandau, Carl and Della Schmidt.
He is survived by: his wife Rachel Schmidt (Rosch) of Kindred, ND; his sons, Matthew Schmidt of Denver, CO and Andrew Schmidt (Megan) of Kindred, ND; and his siblings, Laura Schmidt of Fargo, ND, Tara Wood (Asa) of Upper Arlington, OH and Tharin Schmidt (Dane) of Northwood, ND. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and soon to be grandson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, November 7th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at 2820 12th Ave S, Moorhead, MN 56560. A prayer will be held on Thursday, November 6th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
