He is survived by: his former wife Lucille Hegney (Volk); his children, Al Schmidt (Sheila) of Berthold, ND, Shawn Schmidt (Heather), LeRoy Schmidt and Elroy Schmidt (Katie); his grandchildren, Justine, Molly, Ryan, Brooke and Jada; his stepgrandchildren, Torehn, Anaya and Kala; and his siblings, Daniel Schmidt (Coleen) of Rapid City, SD, Richard Schmidt, Patrick Schmidt (Karen), Gerald Schmidt, Jeff Schmidt (Nancy), Ali Coleman (Fred) of Minot, ND and Deb Seright (Danny). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins.
