He is survived by: his former wife Ida Hildenbrand; his wife Doris Brandt (Thiel); his daughters, Darcy Ruff (Gerald), Kim Deyle (Jayson) and Debra Eiseman; his grandchildren, Chad Ruff, Abby Wolf (Ryan), Samantha Fischer (Mike), Meghan Eiseman and Alex Deyle (Kristen); his great grandchildren, Matthew, Lydia, Jake Wolf, Veda and Mae Fischer; his stepsons, Brian Thiel of Bismarck, David Thiel (Tracy) of Bismarck and Tim Thiel of Bismarck; his stepgrandchildren, Kalie and Gage Thiel; and his siblings, Phyllis Gall (Marvin), Delores Berry and Jack Eiseman.
