He was predeceased by : his parents, Olaf Flaten and Inga Flaten (Holm); and his siblings, Cliff, Arthur, Glen, Mardell, Ruth Pladson, Florence Brenden, Claudine LaChapelle, Marion Flaten, Ione Kloster and Donna Walstad.
He is survived by : his spouse Alvia; his children, Karen Osland (Doug), Steven Flaten (Deb), Grand Forks and Terry Flaten; his siblings, Inez Hanson and Olaf Flaten (Ruth); his grandchildren, Kent Osland, Eric Osland (Lisa), Anita Strand (Andy), Stephanie Solway (Scott), Sarah Flaten, Cindy Flaten and Rachel Meyer (Matthew); and his great grandchildren, Hannah, Carter, Isabelle, Kyle, Trevor, Connor, MeKayl, Shania, Leecia, Izaiah, Andrew and Charlotte. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
