He was predeceased by: his parents, Tony Abel and Eva Abel (Voller); his former wives, Bonnie Abel and Bonnie Johnson; his son John; and his siblings, Gerald, Richard Abel, Loraine Abel, Elizabeth Rumrey, Samantha Abel and Ariyah Brown.
He is survived by: his children, David Abel (Susan) of Minot, ND, Michael Abel (Jana) of Bismarck, ND, Brian Abel (Stephanie) of Hattisburg, MS and Malinda Williams of Minot, ND.; his siblings, Daniel Abel (Margie) of Cedar Park, TX, Rose Baker, Jo Hillstrom of Roseville, MN, Mary Shinn of Fort Collins, CO, Chuck Abel (Nancy) of Bismarck, ND, John Abel (Jeanette), Fort Collins and Claudette Parman (Don); and his grandchildren, Noah, Allison, Cameron, Mariah, Sahara, Bryant, Brekken, Sayley, Ayanna, Jaliyah and Ashka. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial Contribution. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Velva American Legion.
