He was predeceased by : his parents, Paul Barstow and Jennie Barstow (Gore); his sisters, Paula Walker and Alice Morgan; his daughter-in-law Patty Barstow; and his granddaughter Sheena Barstow.

He is survived by : his wife Shirley McVey; his children, Derek, Neri Barstow, Tamara Barstow (Jim Quisenberry), Tracy Burnham (James) and Suzy Barstow (Mike Sissel); his stepson Randy McVey (Becky); and his brother Henry Barstow. He is also survived by Thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the family in Marlan's name for a future designation.
