He was predeceased by: his parents, John and Ruth Wert, Jr. (George); his brother Gary Wert; and his daughter Ann Marie Deaver. He is survived by: his wife Norma Heesch of Aurora; his children, Robert Eugene (Tamera) of Aurora and Lori Hunnicutt (Jay) of Shawnee Mission, Kansas; his son-in-law Dr. Lennie Deaver (Joyce) of Cambridge; his sister Carolyn Henning (Ronald) of Lincoln; and his sister-in-law Sharon Wert of Grand Island. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one more great-grandchild in September and many nieces, nephews, cousins and family members.

Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date.
