He is survived by : his former life partner Dorothy Reith Moore; his wife Margaret; his children, Debbie Nickels (Mike) of McLouth, KS and Brian (Heather) of Henderson, NV; his stepchildren, Darrel Jones (Jo) of Laramie, WY, Deb Dennis (Dan) of Loveland, CO and Diana Maris (Jon) of Wauneta, NE; his stepson-in-law Jim Mullinax of Benkelman, NE.; his grandchildren, Emma Robertson of McLouth, KS, Justine Moore of Overland Park, KS, Sgt. Mark Nickels of Springfield, MO and Dylan Moore of Hays, KS.; his stepgrandchildren, Jeremy Jones, Jill Stuckey (Kyle) of Laramie, WY, Jessica Kier (Tyson) of Gibbon, NE, Jordan Pecoraro (Jason) of Flagstaff, AZ, Chris Dennis (Sarah) of Johnstown, CO, Nicholas Mullanix (Valerie), Blake Mullanix of Haleiwa, HI, Saje Giovando (Steven) of Peoria, AZ and Gabby Mullanix of Fort Collins, CO; and his siblings, Lois Leibbrandt of Imperial, NE, Loyd Moore (Fern) of Oberlin, KS, Stan Moore (Deanie) of Montgomery, TX, Rex Moore (Barb) and Karen Ann Ely (Roger) of McCook, NE.. He is also survived by his parents, along with his four brothers and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials in Mel's memory be given to the Dundy County Hospital or the McCook Community HealthCare and Hospice, 711 East 11TH Street, McCook, Nebraska, 69001.
