He was predeceased by: his wife Janice; his parents, Tom and Anna; his stepfather Melvin Vejraska; Aunts.

He is survived by: his children, Gene Jr, Dale Sladek (Faith) of Crete, Carla Hansmeyer (Chris) of Hallam and Amy Kvasnicka (Alan) of Wilber; and his great grandchildren, Conley Claus and Royce Claus.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are in care of the family.
