He was predeceased by : his parents, Mary Alice (Gossett) and Elton Jay Pope; his brother Edsel; and his sister-in-law Alberta Pope. He is survived by : his wife Jeanne Johnson of David City, Nebraska; his son Joe; his daughter-in-law Shawna Pope of Urbandale, Iowa; his grandson Aaron Carl Pope (Zoe); his sister Mary Margaret; and his brother-in-law Percy Pursell of Coquille, Oregon.
