He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey and Ardelle (Petersen). He is survived by: his wife Marilyn; his children, Chris Vang (Gena) of Elkhorn, NE, Teresa Freeling (Mark) of Gering, NE and Michelle Otto (Jay) of Phillips, NE; his stepchildren, Brian Glover (Deb), Kevin Glover and Jennifer Pulscher (Jonathan); his grandchildren, Isaiah, Noah Vang, Bethany Gress (Dylan), Blayten, Anastyn, Arrayah, Jackson Freeling, Jeremy, Anthony (Lauryn), Brandon (Krista), Devin, Alexis and Carlynda Otto; his stepgrandchildren, Chase, Katie, Kensley Glover, Adeline and Tristian Pulscher; his siblings, Ken Vang of Colorado, Randy Vang (Pam) of Kansas and Patty Morris of Grand Island; and his siblings-in-law, Larry Wiegert of Grand Island, Donald Helmbrecht (Shirley) of Kearney, Carol Haubold (Robert) of Texas and Donna Hibband (Steve) of Grand Island. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 29th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Apfel Funeral Home (1123 W 2nd St, Grand Island, NE 68801). A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 30th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church (212 W 12th St, Grand Island, NE 68801). A burial will be held on Monday, June 30th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery (3826 W Stolley Park Rd, Grand Island, NE 68803).
