She is survived by : her mother Ingeborg Swofford (Diehl); her former life partner Jonathan Peterson; her husband Jon Peterson; her grandmother Ingaborg of Marion, NC; her siblings, Liane Clark (Doug) of Aurora, CO and Mark Swofford (Debbie) of Broomfield, CO; her stepchildren, Ben Hans Peterson of Portland, OR, Nathan Charles Peterson (Samantha Lynn) of Jefferson City, MO, Elizabeth Sahizuko Mastre (Trent Brian) of Grant, NE, Sarah Amelia Enze (Royce Lavern) of Grant, NE and Michelle Arnold-Dennis of Missoula, MT.; and her grandchildren, Marley K Peterson, Bronson Robert Peterson, Ahlaynali Kathryn Peterson, Charlatte Taylor Peterson, Lillian Bell Peterson, Ean Cyril Mastre, Alexis Shizuko Mastre, Zoe Lynn Mastre, Ross Brian Mastre, Sienna Sue Ensz, Brielle Jolene Ensz, Johann Darryl Ensz and Andrew Phillip Walter Aamold.

A memorial has been established in Elke's memory for later designation.
