He was predeceased by : his son Troy Bailey; his parents, Floyd Bailey and Helen Bailey; his brother Thomas Walter Bailey; his grandparents, Leslie, Nella Bailey, Arthur and Nell Stewart; his parents-in-law, Lloyd and Amy Buhler; and his brothers-in-law, Ray Lubben, Larry Buhler and Darrel "Dean" Buhler.

He is survived by : his siblings, Floyd William and Helen Blanche Bailey (Stewart); his wife Connie Bailey of Holdrege; his daughters, Tracie Ludeke (Brad) of Holdrege and Tiffanie Bryant (Coby) of Holdrege; his grandchildren, Rachel Smith (Wade) of Lincoln, Kelsie Gardels (Thomas) of Wilcox, Taylor Bailey of Grand Island, Nebraska, Lexie Ludeke of Holdrege, Trevor Bailey of Lincoln, Baylie Skow (Max) of Holdrege and Hannah Bryant of Holdrege; his great grandchildren, Beau, Brooks Smith and Griffin Gardels; his siblings, Catherine L. Lubben of McCook, Nebraska, Jonathan Bailey (Joyce) of Pawnee City, Nebraska and Phillip Bailey (Sandy) of Palisade; and his siblings-in-law, Jan Bailey Hinrichsen of Elm Creek, Nebraska, Sharon Buhler of Frederick, Colorado, Cathy Buhler of Loveland, Colorado and Richard Buhler of Atwood, Kansas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial has been established in Steve's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
