He was predeceased by : his parents, Clare Lans and Ethel Lans (Anderson); his grandson Jason Lans; his brothers, Frank and Larry; his siblings-in-law, Catherine Lans, Ron Stafford and Roger Pentz; and his nephew David Stafford.

He is survived by : his wife Jonelle Pentz of Lexington; his children, Lynn Lans (Janice) of Lexington, Lori Maloley (Paul) of Omaha and Jennifer Riddell (Steve) of Elkhorn; his grandchildren, Justin Lans (Da'Lacy), Jillian Dowdy (Justin), Jacey Klemm (Austin), Ryan Maloley (MacKenzie), Liz Ketcham (Nick), Scott and Sarah Riddell; his great grandchildren, Jordan, Jacob, Joslynn, James, Jorgianna Lans, Jackson, Jamie Dowdy, Bodee and Shaya Klemm; his siblings, Dean Lans (Billie Jean) of Stamford and Carolyn Hendricks (Terry) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his sisters-in-law, Carolyn Lans of Medford and Pat Pentz of Lexington; and also, Larry and Dean. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the First Presbyterian Church, Nebraska Chapter – Alzheimer's Association or American Cancer Society - Relay For Life of Dawson County.
