She was predeceased by : her parents, Lester Derickson and Dorothy Derickson; her siblings, Virginia Thackston and Robert Thackston (Melody); her aunt Virginia Scranton; her nieces, Heather Lynn Thackston and Amanda Jo Luken (Thackston); her nephew James Eric Thackston; and her foster son Travis Lunn.
She is survived by : her husband James Joseph Schmitz of Lynch; her daughter Eileen J. Swartz of Lynch; her adoptive son Riley Koch (Crystal) of Yankton; and her siblings, Janis Purviance (Leslie) of Lynch, David John Derickson (Peggie) of Spencer and Jerry Thackston (Sandra) of Pierce. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, many foster children over the years; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
