He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Irvin Ailes and Edith Ailes; his sons, David and Doug (Kaleen); his wife Joan; his daughter Lori Miller (Mitch); his grandchildren, Tatum Anderson (Jeremy), Gabrielle Dunson (Devin), Drew Ailes (Amanda), Travis Miller (Megan), Audree Henry (Bobby) and Cal Thompson (Samantha); his great grandchildren, Mila, Phoenix Anderson, Brynley, Brayden Ailes and Broderick Miller; his siblings, Verlin and Onita Stanley; and his grandson Tyler Ailes.

At the age of 50, Garry ran his first marathon and raised $4000 in donations for the Make-A-Wish foundation.
