She was predeceased by: her parents, Donald Benak and Mildred Benak. She is survived by: her husband George; her children, Jason Christianson (Lori) and Cara Ehegartner (Bill); her stepchildren, Adam Otten (Amy) and Morgan Otten; and her siblings, Donnie Benak, Jackie Jeffries and Chris Hiatt. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren.
Though always a fighter, Kate lost her 9-year battle with Alzheimer's on October 4th, 2021.
