He was predeceased by : his parents, Herman E. Holthaus and Emma L. Holthaus (Bangert); his siblings, Wayne and Patricia; and his son David.

He is survived by : his former life partner Elizabeth R. Luebber of Bellevue, KY; his daughter-in-law Rosemarie Holthaus of Grand Island, NE; his grandchildren, Katherine Lanza of Gilbert, AZ, Alexander (Crystal Holthaus), Elizabeth (Sean Kuttner) and Robert (Amber Holthaus); his sister Virginia Kral of Bladen, NE; and his wife Betty.
