She was predeceased by: her husband Kenneth Petersen Sr.; her parents, George Schmidt and Neva A. Schmidt; her brother Larry D. Schmidt; and her granddaughter Katie Bohnenkamp.
She is survived by: her children, Kim Bohnenkamp of Council Bluffs, Angela Edwards (David) of Casper, WY, Angel Bolton (Rob) of Gering, NE, Kenneth Petersen Jr (Cozy) and Michael Petersen (Angela); and her brother Terry Schmidt.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Panhandle Humane Society.
