He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Blackburn and Barbara Blackburn (Viren); his wife Norma Jean Nuss; and his brother William. He is survived by: his children, Raile Matthew Blackburn (Kaiti) and Sierra Nicole Blackburn of Hays, Kansas; his brother Captain Dan Blackburn (Jillian) of Burlington, NJ; and his siblings-in-law, Barbara Griess (Gus) of Sutton, Chris Johnson of Columbus, NE and Mel Nuss of Phoenix, AZ.

Memorials are suggested to go to the family to be designated at a later date.
