She was predeceased by : her parents, Arthur Mallum and Sylvia Mallum (Smith); her husband Thomas Simpkin; and her brother Charles Mallum. She is survived by : her former life partner William Oetken; her children, Brent Oetken (Kristy) of Yankton, SD and Melissa Obermeyer (Scott) of Wakefield, NE; her stepchildren, Michael Simpkin (Taylor) of Traverse City, MI, Brandon Simpkin (Tia) of Cadillac, MI and Sarah Wolfe of Mesick, MI; and her brothers, Robert Mallum (Karen) of Lincoln, NE and Dennis Mallum (Susan) of Prescott, AR. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Per Ruth's wishes, in lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
