She was predeceased by : her parents, Herbert Bruhn and Johanna Bruhn (Jacobs); her husbands, Homer Houdersheldt, Jr., Edwin C. Vahlkamp and Dale Heins; her sister Lillian Knutzen (Bruhn); her grandson Paul Wurtz; and her close friend Don Matthes.

She is survived by : her children, Ruth Wurtz (Jerry) of Lincoln, Eric Vahlkamp (Arlyn) of Winside and Margie Campbell (Donald) of Council Bluffs, IA; and her grandchildren, Vanessa Wurtz (Russell Morris) of Lincoln and Edwin Vahlkamp of Winside. She is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews; many step and foster children and grandchildren.
