He is survived by: his wife Brenda Tomasek; his children, Ali Marie and Nicholas McCarthy (Jenny) of York; his siblings, Marleen Parr (Roger) of Fremont, Kathleen Hodge (Dennis) of Lincoln and Timothy McCarthy of Tilden; his sisters-in-law, Angie Tomasek, Omaha, Merridy Tomasek, Norfolk, Jody Huber (Doug) and Hebron; his grandchildren, Marshall McCarthy, Maggie McCarthy and Greyce Lampman; his parents-in-law, Arnie and Wanda Tomasek; and his siblings-in-law, Bruce Tomasek (Tank), Brent Tomasek (Haze), Bryan Tomasek (Zip) and Kim Tomasek (Brent).

Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation in John's name.
