He was predeceased by : his parents, Wilbur Eckerson and Edith Eckerson (Doscher); his wife Arlene; and his siblings, John, Wilbur Eckerson and Margaret Davies.

He is survived by : his children, Daniel and Lynn Eckerson of Lakewood, California; his daughter-in-law Nancy Eckerson of Durham; and his grandchildren, Sara of Lisbon, Portugal and Jacob of Durham. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
