He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Sweeney and Alice Sweeney (Deshan). He is survived by: his wife Lorraine "Laurie" (Nesbit); his daughter Teresa Cate; and his stepchildren, Kathy Thibodeau, Kristen Astilla (Michael) and Kevin Thibodeau (Sandra Hayes) of Nashua. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
