He was predeceased by: his wife Lorraine R. Mendes (Barsalou); his parents, John Mendes and Belvina Mendes (Avila); his son Anthony D. Mendes; and his brothers, Frederick Mendes and John Mendes.
He is survived by: his children, Diane M. Bromley (Douglas), Barbara A. Hale (Fred), Daniel A. Mendes, Jr. (Lena), Robert P. Mendes, David A. Mendes (Marilyn), Gary M. Mendes (Linda), Belvina A. Patterson (Robert), Lorraine R. Gast, Michael A. Mendes, James R. Mendes (Brenna) and Tina L. Herbert (Daniel); and his uncle Manuel Avila (Geraldine). He is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren.
