He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Barnard and Leona Barnard (Albrecht); and his wife Karolyn Barnard (Erler). He is survived by: his sons, Eric F. Barnard (Susan) of Windham, NH and Kurt Barnard of Kittery, ME; his grandsons, Brandon and Brian Barnard; his sisters, Ruth Flaque (Julio) of Escondido, CA and Sandra Creech of Vista, CA; and his brother-in-law Robert Erler (Carolyn) of Windham. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
