He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Michael Szarko and Frances Szarko; his wife Helen Szarko (Mynio); his brothers, John and Fred Szarko; his daughters, Janice Szarko, Elaine Seib and Susan Hawkins; his grandchildren, Robin Ostenfeld Adams, Julie Ostenfeld, Heidi Seib Tsapelas and Michael Seib; and his great grandchildren, Vivvienne, Grant and Bohdi.
