He was predeceased by: his parents, Augusta McDonough and Charles McDonough; his brother Dennis McDonough; his nephew Charles McDonough; and his niece Susan DeSimone.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his daughter Joyce Asprocolas (Milton); his brother Robert McDonald (Susan); his sisters-in-law, Jill McDonough and Jane Miele; and his grandchildren, Gina Asprocolas (Joseph), Stephanie Asprocolas, Joseph DeSimone and Nicole DeSimone.
