He was predeceased by: his parents, Demetrio Cortes Ortiz Sr. and Irene Perez (Cruz); and his sister Diana Cortes. He is survived by: his wife Maria Martinez; his children, Jose Valentin, Ana Valentin, Angelica Valentin, Emanuel Valentin and Amanda Valentin; and his siblings, Angel Cortes (Walfa), Eddie Cortes (Melissa Escribano), Norberto Cortes and Evelyn Cortes. He is also survived by many grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Carnesale Funeral Home (202 S 3rd St, Hammonton, NJ 08037). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 10th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, December 10th 2025 at 12:45 PM at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery (124 S 1st Rd, Hammonton, NJ 08037).
