The passing of Walter Zielonka of Elmwood Park, New Jersey leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul who departed on November 19, 2025 at the age of 84. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his brother-in-law Zenon Znak; and his brother Michael (Irka). He is survived by: his wife Mary Zielonka (Mynio); his children, John Zielonka (Tania) of Fairfield, NJ, Michael Zielonka (Liza) of Elmwood Park and Anna Zielonka of New York City; his siblings, John Zielonka (Antonina), Mary Bilyj (Michael) and Anna Znak; and his children, Theresa Kapitula (Steve), Olga Melnychuk (Stanley), Helen Klics, Maryann Hoholuk (Richard), Andreann Znak, Lesia Sanchez (Orsini), Annemarie Tynio (Andrew), Peter Zielonka (Jody) and Andrew Bilyj (Kristen). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 21st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home (1313 Van Houten Ave, Clifton, NJ 07013). A prayer was held on Saturday, November 22nd 2025 at 9:15 AM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 22nd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Michael's Cathedral (96 1st St, Passaic, NJ 07055). A burial was held on Saturday, November 22nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery (141 Sarah Wells Trail, Campbell Hall, NY 10916).
In lieu of flowers, Walter's wish was that a donation in his name be made to "St. Michael's Food Pantry" - which provides weekly food to at least 50-70 families in need. If you choose to donate, please send a check to: St. Michael's Cathedral, 96 First Street, Passaic, NJ 07055.
