He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Johnston and Eleanor Johnston; and his brothers, Robert and Albert. He is survived by: his grandchildren, Aidan, Keith, Alex and Megan; his wife Jeanne Johnston; his sons, Bryon Jr. (Karen), Scott (Shannon) and Steven (Robyn); his brother Lawrence (Helen); his sister-in-law Elaine; and his cousin Mary Ellen Ponzio. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
