He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Smith and Mary DeGraw Smith; his brothers, Joe, Rudy and Alexander Smith (AJ); and his stepson Raymond Burke.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ellen Smith of Hackettstown, NJ.; his stepchildren, Lisa Burke (Chris Reul) of Pompton Lakes, NJ, William Burke (Pam) of Jefferson, NJ, MaryAnne Burke Santorelli (Angelo) of Long Valley, NJ and Thomas Burke (Nancy) of Wantage, NJ.; his grandchildren, Anthony, Brittany, Joseph, Daniel, Isabella, Angelina, Vincent, Emily, Billie and Liam; his great grandchildren, Natalie, Skylar, Noah and Aviana; and his siblings, Leon, Pauline, Mary, Paul and Willy Smith. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
