He was predeceased by: his parents, Jay Taber and Catherine Taber; and his former wife Inge Taber. He is survived by: his wife Rita Taber; his son Thomas J. Taber, II; his stepdaughter Lauren Gargano (Steve) of West Orange; his sister-in-law Olga Schwede; and his grandchildren, Anthony and Amelia Gargano.

In lieu of flowers, it was Tom's wish that charitable contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
