He was predeceased by: his parents, James M. Butera and Dorothy Tarangioli (Smeraldi); and his brother James Butera. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Butera (Flesch); his children, John Butera (Carrie), James Butera and Barbara (James Holt); his brother Frank Butera (Maureen Mullin); and his sister-in-law Mary Jo Butera. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Salvatore's memory to Hamilton Continuing Care Nursing Home, 1059 Edinburg Rd., Hamilton Sq., NJ 08690.
