She was predeceased by: her parents, Emilio Mendez and Julia Figueroa; and her brothers, Luis Mendez, Benigno Mendez and Hector Mendez.
She is survived by: her children, Norma Ortiz, Anthony Ortiz, Marie Ortiz (Joseph O'Donoghue) and Joey Ortiz; her siblings, Maria L. Mendez, Hilda R. Mendez (Manuel), Ada E. Mendez, Ana A. Mendez, Neida Quinones (Ozzie), Migdalia Mendez, Magdalena Mendez and Felix Mendez (Carmen); and her grandchildren, Stacey Ortiz, Joseph Cruz, Amaris Cruz, Elmelinda Cruz, Anthony Ortiz, Jr., Jerrica Ortiz and Jocelyn Ortiz. She is also survived by three great grandchildren.
