He was predeceased by : his parents, Ralph Cabbell and Mary Woodson Cabbell; and his siblings, Florence Brown, Ralph, Harold, David, James and Vincent Cabbell.

He is survived by : his wife Carolyn Fennell Cabbell; his children, Terri Sheppard-Muhammad (Michael), Dionne Muhammad (Ahmed) and Houston E. Cabbell, Jr. (Evette); his sister Caroline Johnson (Frank); and his brother-in-law Roger Fennell (Carrie). He is also survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
