He was predeceased by: his parents, John Bretherick and Anna Bretherick; and his daughter Sarah Elizabeth. He is survived by: his wife Sue; his daughters, Rebekah Rudolph and Laura Bretherick; his grandchildren, Evelyn and Jonah; and his siblings, Jack (Marilyn), Alan (Hope), David (Dori) and Betty Ann Verity.

He specifically requested NO FLOWERS. Therefore in lieu of flowers contributions can be made to The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) The Children's Fund: Give2.chop.edu.
