He is survived by: his mother Sally; his daughter Manhattan; his friends, Gail and Howard; his wife Gail Slater of Monroe Township; his brother Douglas Slater of Monroe Township; his sister-in-law Karen Slater of Monroe Township; and also, Meredith Slater (Jacob Hyman) of Englewood and Lauren Siegmund (Andrick Siegmund) of Detroit.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Howard's name can be made to ActionAid USA, UNICEF USA, or Well Spouse Association, which are all near and dear to the family.
