He was predeceased by : his brother Abel; and his wife Mary Farah Ramos. He is survived by : his former life partner Elena Ramos Couto; his sons, Manuel Couto III (Maria De Lourdes) and Nelson Couto (Rose); his grandchildren, Manny, Morgan, Tila and Dana Couto; his sister Marie Caravela (late Manuel); his children, Manny, Michael and Michele; and his nephews, Abel August and Steven Ramos.

Due to the restrictions recently placed on occupancy in public spaces by the State of New Jersey in the ongoing efforts to limit the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
