Bertha (Ross) Fischer Obituary
Betsy Fischer, 95, of Ocean City, NJ passed away peacefully on July 29, 2021. She grew up in Lansford, PA. After high school she attended Drexel Institute of Technology in Philadelphia where she graduated in 1945. She worked for Philadelphia Electric Co. as a statistician afterwards until she married and started a family.
Betsy married Paul E. Fischer in 1947 and they were happily married for 60 years. They raised their family in Springfield, Delaware County, PA. Once her children were grown, Betsy returned to work first as secretary to Mr. Abraham M. Krasnoff of Bala Cynwd and later doing medical record keeping for Community Life of Delaware County until she retired. She and her husband, Paul moved to Ocean City, NJ in 1991 where they enjoyed the many activities that the town has to offer. They enjoyed traveling together, taking several trips per year. They saw much of the U.S.A and Europe and toured Australia, New Zealand, Kenya and Egypt as well. Betsy was an avid bridge player and reader and, in her spare time, was a volunteer at the Ocean City Free Public Library and Shore Memorial Hospital.
Betsy is survived by her daughters: Debbie Truitt (Gary) of Allison Park, PA, Faye Pember (Steve) of Kennett Square, PA, and Paula Gressman (John) of Fountain Hills, AZ; her grandchildren: Kate Kammes (Michael) of Sunland, CA, Steve Truitt (Ashley) of Pittsburgh, PA, and Jeff Truitt (Jenna) of Allison Park, PA; and her great-grandchildren: Jordan Truitt and Jackson Truitt. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Rose Ross and her husband, Paul.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Augustine Church of St. Damien Parish at 13th St. & Wesley Ave. in Ocean City on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 10 a.m. The family will be greeting friends and relatives afterwards. Burial will follow the service at Seaside Cemetery.
