He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfonso Gomez Sr. and Lydia Gomez. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Pesantes; his children, Alexis and Eric; and his siblings, Alice Rivera (Orlando), Agrimaldi Velez (Lancy), José Velez and Juanita Vera (Luis). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family will accept donations to establish a baseball scholarship fund in Alfonso's name.
