He was predeceased by: his child Joseph P. Potter; and his grandchild John Daniel Potter. He is survived by: his spouse Alberta; his child John A. Potter (Vicki); his grandchildren, Thomas Matthew Potter and Kevin John Potter; and his siblings, Evelyn Wise, Peggy McCrary and Kathleen Ulco. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
